  1. A major trip south
I'm on the third 500 km trip to Clyde (post house purchase) and tomorrow I take the contents of two bookcases. Why don't I put them all in a big truck for one trip, do I hear you ask? Well, we don't have vacant possession yet (5 more days), and I'm travelling south anyway for a few days, so the car might as well earn its keep. Actually, I'm concerned that I might have exceeded the rear axle permitted load of 850 kg and will relocate some of the denser books to the passenger footwell in the morning; that should move 100 - 200 kg.

Two days ago I returned from checking out a proposed property purchase in Central Otago. Fine hot weather, days just under 30 deg C. Two shots at base location, and two at a wheat-field near Glenavy on the coast - see the sea-mist in the background trying to invade.

Yesterday, it was a cloudy (mostly) dull day, little wind, and I went to the city Rose Garden for two hours from about 4 pm to 6. I took 53 shots on the E-3 and manual lenses ( 50/3.5, 100/2 ,and 70-150/4. Though I say it myself there's hardly a dud amongst them. Here are ten (my opinion) prime ones. This taught me something about photographing rose flowers. And the insects !! Next time I'll take a pressurised can of something nasty. They just wouldn't get lost !! The only changes made were resizing, and modest sharpening, and file size reduction, all in Faststone, jpeg.
